Nova Hydrographica LGP 1 (formerly known as Nova Hydrographica 2) is made up of three layers: a 1630 map by Henricus Hondius, a classroom template of the countries of the world in 2017, and splattered paint. Nova Hydrographica 2 is the second iteration of this composition. The first was painted on a 32 x 48 inch canvas. This piece was created by taking a photo of the painting, cropping, printing and transferring the image with gesso onto a canvas, and then carefully removing the paper so only the ink remained. This process makes the image unclear, so I then added detail back into the image with microns. Finally, gold leaf was added into the composition.
