Rainbow Bridge Mural
A mural in Greenfield, Indiana at Beckenholdt Park created as a memorial to pets who are missed.
This artwork was commissioned by Dawn Hanson and painted by Lisa Sears. After the loss of Dawn’s beloved pet, Baker, she sought out a way to grieve. After finding a rainbow bridge in North Carolina, she ventured there to honor the memory of her good boy by placing his collar on the memorial bridge. This spurred her to advocate for a similar memorial in Greenfield. She worked with the Greenfield Parks Department to create the monument you see today. The mural has space for 24 pet portraits with names and 24 additional pet names without a portrait. Collars can be hung on the rainbow bridges to help mourn the loss of beloved pets.
