​Genus

GenusThis is the first commission that I have ever done for a complete stranger, Kate Francis.  She saw some of my art and contacted me with the idea of a triptych based on a photograph of her children silhouetted by a sunset in their neighborhood.  After meeting with Kate, seeing the space for the art, and going through several design ideas we settled on the one that comes to life in the slideshow below.  Enjoy Genus (which is Latin for family). 

Of course this painting contains more than one image because of my love of layered imagery.  The first image is the photo provided by the Kate Francis.  The second is a chrysanthemum that spirals in the center of the composition.  The third is the word LOVE.
