Mons, Acrylic on Canvas, 42 in w x 26 in h, 2023, NFS
This painting is for Bob and Mary Hawkins. I wasn’t sure what to paint so I made a table and used a random number generator to pick a prompt (see the image below on the top right). Fate selected Landscape, monochromatic, elongated, neoclassical. I then asked Bob to help me narrow it down and he suggested Mountains and streams. This made me think of a piece that my students study in Art History class,

So I dug through the photos that I have taken of mountains and found the perfect one from Switzerland last fall (see below, middle right). I then edited it to make it monochromatic blue and the right size for the canvas that I built (below, bottom right). Now I am painting it onto the canvas and posting updated images periodically.
