I have been applying to different art things and enriching my child through library workshops and museum visits, So, not much new to update. I rehung Consumption with fishing line and adjusted it's hanging height. I applied to enter it in a couple of shows. Unfortunately, the only wall large enough to hang it (that I have access to) is in a narrow hallway so the photos is from an angle... Also, Typical Whorl is progressing and it is super fun.
G'night! To painting!

I love history and I love art = I love Boston. It was an amazing road trip with my husband. Boston on St.Patricks day is a sight to behold. I enjoy running, like some sort of deranged person, and Boston did not disappoint! A morning jog to some of America's most famous locations was AMAZING. Not to mention, the Museum of Fine Art was awe inspiring. I saw every single room that was open in the building. I got to see a lot of the art that is taught in my AP Art History Class. Excellent nerding-out all around! I even sought out the piece by Paul Gauguin (the wife beating, family abandoning, marrying multiple Tahitian child brides when he had syphilis P.O.S.) just to hiss at it. The teachers that attended my workshop were great. I went over the Installations/Actions lesson that I teach to my seniors and then we had an hour to make some. Art got weird. I love it! In other news, Consumption is finished officially. I had to adjust the hanging system because of its weight, but it is up securely now. Typical Whorl has it's own page now and is quickly progressing. Back to painting! I am pretty stoked for my next painting. I am returning to my love of spirals, in the form of a fingerprint. I'm starting it tonight! Fresh canvas woo! Nike is finished, I just need to varnish her. She's a beaut. I think I will probably take her to Mavris to be displayed, but I'm not positive yet. I am going to try my best to post some stuff next Saturday, but I may miss it, due to Art Education adventures in Boston.
I will for sure post some pictures of those shenanigans. On another topic, the amazing tech workers at school resurrected my Macbook so I am fully functional once again. Off to paint! G'night. Nike is in the home stretch. I started my gold leaf signature last night. Now I need to start brainstorming what I want to paint next. Hmmm... The weekend after next I am going to be in Boston for the National Art Education Conference. I am making a presentation about teaching High School kids to create Art Installations and Art Actions. The teachers in the workshop will be making one too, so I will def get some photos to share.
My macbook is still airing out so keep your fingers crossed for me that she isn't fried. Off to paint! |
