The plein air painting at the Indy Urban Adventure Race was tarnished by cold and rain. Darn you Indiana weather! I stuck it out and ended up with a fairly okay painting- plein air is an skill that I have not used in several years... so it was good practice. I like the weird fish eye effect I was trying to achieve, but not much else : P There were roaming Pirates there as well which I greatly enjoyed.
On another note, I was recently approached to do a commission piece for a wonderful art lover from Greenwood, Indiana that had seen my work at Fountain Square Brewery. She had a photograph that she wanted integrated into a painting, and after some negotiating we settled on a layered image that we were both excited about. Stay tuned for that to appear on the Progressions Page. Also, work that will be on display for the month of May: All Art Must Die @ Bent Rail Brewery in Broadripple Layered Self-Portrait @ Acceleration Art and Photography Gallery in Fountain Square

The post is early today because I am chaperoning Prom tonight...
Saturday April 30th from 8 AM - 12:30 PM I will be painting in one of two places: the triangular green-and-paved location in front of the Canal Overlook condos, or the large grassy area just north of the Vermont St. bridge. Both of these locations are on the east side of the Canal, where the runners will be. After that I will be at Military Park displaying the art for a couple hours. Also, Suffragette is almost finished. It was challenging to hang- it's really heavy when the canvases are all attached to one another. There are more images on the progressions page. Mucha May is finished, woo hoo. She was an amazing woman and I am really happy with how the portrait turned out.
Next up I am going to start working on Roma, an 88 inch wide by 64 inch tall canvas that will have layered imagery from my trip to Italy. Also, work on Suffragette continues. The sixty canvases are slowly becoming attached to one another. I will be super socially awkward April 30th at the Canal in downtown Indianapolis - participating in some plein air painting of a race. Sweet. More details will be available as that draws nearer. Last, but not least, Tamara Nike and All Art Must Die are only up for two more weeks at the Creative Art and Event Center in Greenfield, IN. Mucha May Wright Sewall is almost done, I'd say she has another week tops. You can see her progress on the Progressions Page. Next, I am going to start working on two separate projects: a commissioned triptych and a large scale layered image based off of pics from my trip to Italy. No new news other than All Art Must Die will be hanging for the month of May in Bent Rail Brewery in Broadripple. More details as that gets closer. I miss Italy. Below is a pic from Sorrento and below that a picture of Rome. Ciao! Also, I really wanted to steal a Mediterranean Pine and smuggle it home. They are so pretty! My friend talked me out of it though. How would I get it home? (Tied to the top of the plane) How would I carry it? (Child Labor- teacher joke, not actual child labor)
Art Show at a Brewery = Damaged Canvas So while I was away in Italy someone gashed one of my canvases, Dark Light, that was at the Fountain Square Brewary. No biggy- it can be fixed- it's just time consuming and tedious. All Art Must Die and Tamera Nike are still on display in Greenfield at the Greenfield Art Center through the end of April. April 30th I will be plein air painting on the canal during a race. More details to come as that gets closer! Mucha May Wright Sewall (below) is progressing. Check out its development on the Progressions Page. Oh, and I have officially been published. Email counts right? No? |
