Two of my paintings were accepted into a show in Chicago at Morpho Gallery. Soon Chicago will be on my resume. Sweet. 4 painting were accepted, I can only take two, so the little guys are going to save on a the cost of renting a trailer.
I teach high school students Visual Art. My seniors are going to be creating their own websites, so I started researching other artists websites and stumbled across this gem www.blublu.org/ which then led to an even more amazing page www.artsh.it/blog/
Beautiful, beautiful sarcasm. So tasty. Back to painting Nova Hydrographica! I drove to see the opening of the art show in Kokomo. There was a great collection of amazing work. I was impressed with the quality and variety of art that dealt with social issues. Ironically, my painting Principio Obstate was a little to controversial to go in the front room. I overheard the woman that organized the show saying that she was worried that people might take it the wrong way and be offended...
That's kind of the point. Also, once you stare at it for a moment you realize that there is a larger upright statue of liberty. I heard a really interesting podcast, I think it was "This American Life" on NPR and they were talking about Citizens United and how it kind of F'd up the balance of power during elections. One of the justices on the case talked about how liberty and equality have to exist in a sort of balance. That to much of one will hurt the other. I feel like my opposing lady liberties embody that balance. Any who, back to painting my layered maps Nova Hydrographica. |
