I am very lucky and have a brother that lives in Belgium, and has the means to fly me, my husband, my brother and son to visit. Belgium did not disappoint! I travel internationally with students and was disappointed that Belgium isn’t on more of the iteneraries. First: Ghent I teach AP Art History and was very excited to see the Ghent altarpiece, which is 1 of the 250 artworks that students study. Why is it so special? Well, for one it is huge, and well done, and it is very old. It is also a first. The first large scale altarpiece done in oil on panel. It was so famous that Hitler coveted it for his art collection. Everyday between the hours of 12-1 the altarpiece is opened. You aren’t supposed to film it, but I’m a rebel. I was also very lucky and got to see Manakin Pis, the best statue ever. The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam did not disappoint. *Note Abs baby Jesus What day is it? Abs day.

Won first place. Didn’t know until an awesome student of mine sent me this pic. Submitted this for Indianapolis’ Bicentennial Design. Saw an owl on the Pensy Trail. My cat begs to be a meme. My students created amazing public art. I saw some AMAZING art at Newfields with 45 other art loving kiddos. Found some Pawpaw fruit! Worked on this nugget. Speaking of which, it’s time to get back to painting.
