Actually, I love painting so I do it's an inconvenience when I can't. Indiana Sightglass continues to be refined. The updates for it are a tad dull, so I thought I would show you what I have been doing with my waste paint. Last year I used whatever was left over on my palette at the end of the night to paint a quick spiral. I then attached all of the 12 in x 12 in canvases into a giant "quilt" called Suffragette. It will go on display at the Indianapolis International Airport in March of 2017.
Since finishing that piece, I have been using my left over paint in another way. I have been letting it dry on the palette. Since acrylic paint has plastic binders, I am able to peel it off of the palette after about two nights of painting (one night is usually not thick enough). I would then stick them to the inside of the cups that I drink water (and maybe a touch of vodka) out of. I have been accumulating these cups with the intention of drilling holes in the center of the cup and stringing them from one another with clear fishing line. I also want to incorporate a light source in the cups. So, here is a glimpse at my next installation in progress.
