I had an amazing time in NYC last weekend. Sorry for the gap in updates! I was able to visit the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
I couldn't list all of the amazing work that I saw! It was a visually stunning weekend. Well, now that I am back in Indy, I am continuing to work on Principio Obstate. And, good news! I saw the following call for artists: "This year, Garfield Park Arts Center will continue it’s annual Hoosier Women in Art exhibition this year to coincide with May Day. Local women will share their talents, their stories, and a part of themselves with a focus on the theme “politics & protest.” Acceptable media include, but are not limited to: paintings, watercolors, drawings, digital art, collage, mixed media, photography, assemblage, sculpture, ceramics, mosaics, and fabric art. The exhibition will be on display May 6 – 27, 2017." The show is called Hoosier Women in Art Exhibition: Politics & Protest. When I started painting an upside down statue of liberty, I knew it would be difficult to find places to exhibit it due to the disconcerting imagery. And then this beautiful opportunity came along. Well I better get back to painting. I have a deadline to make.
