Teaching from home because of the Coronavirus pandemic is strange, but I've been getting a little more used to it this past week. I feel so lucky to work at the school that I do because we already have a really good set up for eLearning. My painting and AP Art History classes are doing the #gettymuseumchallenge. My entry (done in twenty minutes during class- pressure!) is below. My Photography class is doing Quarantine inspired photography. One of the prompts is their workspace. My eLearning backdrop is Theorem finally all put together. I've also been working on the cradled panels for Vote!.
Once I finish the final details on Theorem, I'm going to start on the V panel. It's design is below.

Well, we live in strange times. This past week I spent the week learning and trying to teach online. It went surprisingly well, but I have about 40 students' parents that I need to call since they didn't log in... I am just about done sanding and priming the cradled boards for VOTE! Theorem continues to progress. I am refining some rough spots on the largest canvas and will work my way through the little canvases over the next few weeks. I just figured out how to check out "The Great Courses Plus" content from Indianapolis Public Library online and I'm pretty stoked to listen and paint. G'night. Well. Corona virus sucks. That is the main point that I would like to make. In other news, being trapped at home for endless hours encouraged me to start building the cradled panels for VOTE! I've also been working on Theorem, it is getting more layered and detailed. My studio has become my teaching-from-home-office so please ignore the table blocking the view of most of the artwork... I've also been working on a digital painting of a boy from Venezuela, Maikel, for the nonprofit "The Memory Project". My students are working on 20 now, and we are going to do most of them in adobe Fresco on our school ipads, since using supplies at school isn't happening. My in process example is below.
I got an update on my three paintings at the One America Building.
I'm still working on Theorem but it is heading toward the home stretch. Woo hoo! I am going to be picking up Consumption and Typical Whorl from Fountain Square Brewery this coming Wednesday.
Roma is still at some law firm for Herron's Alumni Show, woo woo. Well, my cat and I are going to get back to some painting. Goodnight. Well, I missed an update last week because I was nursing a really bad sprain. Bottom line, ten pages of waivers should be a red flag. Now I know.
Anywho, once I moved past the excruciating pain, and the crushing sadness from not being able to trail run anytime in the near future, I was right back to painting. So Theorem has made some progress in the last two weeks since I've updated her. Art of mine will be on display in two Indy locations! The first has a reception at 3:30 PM at Barnes and Thornburg Law offices for a juried student and alumni show. Roma will be in one of their office conference rooms. Then, I get to shuffle on down to Fountain Square Brewery for a fun First Friday in Fountain Square. I've got two pieces in that show, Typical Whorl and 1/4 of Consumption. Admission is free until 7, then there will be a five dollar cover. Details can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/497820307516035/. Progress on Theorem continues. If you haven't read the artist statement about the idea behind it, check this out.
And that's all I've got. G'night! |
